Black-headed Gull - Grey hind necks

In non-breeding plumage, adult Black-headed Gulls acquire a grey hind neck, which can sometimes run over onto the head, breast and flanks. This feature is usually very subtle and most noticeable in diffuse lighting conditions, particularly in snowy conditions.
